Alfredo Spagna, Managing Director, Arancho Nordic Oy, Finland
Alfredo was born on 12.9.1962 in Catania, Italy. Today he is a resident of Finland.
He studied translating and interpreting first in Italy, at the Scuola Superiore Europea per Traduttori ed Interpreti in
Perugia, and then in Germany, at the Johannes-Gutenberg Universität, FAS-Germersheim.
He started his career as a freelance translator in 1986, and he worked for two years as an interpreter for the Frankfurt
International Fair.
In 1991, Alfredo moved to Finland and in 1992, he founded his own Translation Company, Italikus.
In 1993 he joined the Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters.
In 1995, he joined the Association of Finnish Translation Companies and in 1997, he became its Vice-President.
In 2002, he became shareholder and Deputy Managing Director of the translation company Käännös-Aazet Oy,
located in Helsinki, Finland. Käännös-Aazet Oy is one of the oldest (25 years) Translation Companies in Finland, and
among the leaders in the market.
In 2003 he founded a new Translation Company, Arancho Nordic Oy, which is a member of the Arancho Group. He is
involved in the development of the Quality System of the company.
In 2002, he was elected Vice-President of the European Union of Association of Translation Companies, and for the
period 2005-2006 he will be its President. He has been actively involved in the European quality standard project
since 1999.
In 2005 Alfredo Spagna has been elected President of the Association of Finnish Translation Companies and of the
EUATC.
