Evaluating the Demand for Language Standards in Industries other than Information Technology
In the localization industry, we focus heavily on the needs and demands of software publishers when it comes to the development of localization processes and standards. But what about other industries? Are language and process standards for translation services being developed and implemented anywhere else? And if they are, do they work? Does the word "standard" actually live up to its name?
This panel will look at some of the other industries that require translation, such as automotive and medical, and find out what they're doing, what they're not, and why. The panelists will also discuss the significance of standards in their industries in general and how we can learn from these when developing language standards that work.
