Translation Quality Management Standards
(a) arriving at an agreement on what constitutes quality for a particular project,
(b) measuring the quality of the result (the translation), and
(c) implementing quality assurance procedures throughout the translation process.
This panel will address the following questions:
(1) What is the exact status of the CEN and ASTM translation quality management standards?
(2) What is the relationship between the CEN and ASTM standards on the one hand and translation quality metrics on
the other hand?
(3) What other translation quality management standards are in use or under development outside the United States
and Europe?
(4) What are the similarities and differences between various translation quality management standards
in the selection of terms that they formally define, precisely how those terms are defined, and which steps they identify
in the translation process?
(5) Is there a need to harmonize the various translation quality management standards?
